Oh, man, that's AWFUL.
That bear should be thankful it was you and not me.
We would be having ourselves a Bear-B-Q...

Wow, glad your okay. The Jeep did it's job and laid it's life on the line for the driver/occupants.
Did the frame get bent? Looks like there are plenty of good parts on there. If the frame's not bent, time for a buggy. Otherwise, part it out.

I'm thinking about making it into some kind of buggy, still runs great and I just rebuilt the t-case last week Might find a J series cab and stick it on the frame, how hard is this?
I was planning on a bear-B-Q and had my sidearm ready, bloody thing never came back

Ouch, that sucks. Unless I'm driving through a farm field, I just hit the brakes and just move a little to one side. Better to hit the animal and suffer a little damage, than to risk going off the road and getting hurt, and seriously damaging the vehicle. I once heard someone say they hit the brakes and keep going straight ahead, which helps keep you steady for hitting the animal I guess. At least the Jeep wasn't totally destroyed, it was a nice Chero and was doing good too.
Anyways, glad you're ok, and that you didn't need the rollcage (did the rollcage stop the tree from crushing the left in more?). If the frame is ok, which it probably is or only slightly bent, then you have a base for a buggy. Hack off the rear of the frame, stick on a J-truck cab, make a little flatbed/toolbox setup, spring over with some bigger tires, that ought to at least leave you with a nice trail Jeep. Then you can part out what you don't use. The Jeep must live on!

Yes, the roll cage stopped the tree from crushing the roof/side in any more, I think I'll stick a J-Cab on for the time being and one of these days get a semi-decent W/T body to put on there. If it was a rotted out winter beater I wouldn't be as down, but it wasn't

Wow, I thought I had a bad day, Really sorry to hear about that man. At least your alright tho.
If you decide to rebuild it, theres a really good u-pull-it around King of Prussia, PA that have a bunch of cherokees and wags, if I remember correctly, a couple of em were widetracks, but don't remember if the bodies were good. A j-truck cab shouldn't be too hard considering your chero is a widetrack, prolly just have to relocate some body mounts. Goodluck with whatever you end up decidng to do. If ya need any help, don't hesitate to ask.

The good news is I walked away without a single scratch.
The bad news is the folks want me to junk it
The good news is that you need to replace it with another FSJ that saved your life.
The even better news is that the worst thing you had to tell your parents was that you destroyed your Jeep. The best thing to your parents after the wreck was the most important thing in their lives was OK.
What a difference a day can make in your life.

Wow man, sorry to hear about your Jeep, but glad to hear you walked away. Also glad that if a Jeep had to go, it was being used and loved, not rotting away in a field.
Call PETA now, but I don't swerve for animals. When I was 17 I swerved for a skunk on a country road and the car slid sideways and put my passenger and I into a ditch pretty hard. In fact, it was more like a gradual lane change but forwhatever reason the car got real loose. Car drove away with 1500 in damage and we were OK, but it could have been worse. Not worth it to save a skunk or whatever. Just hit the brakes and stay going straight ahead!
