What size sheetmetal screws are used to put the cover over the tailgate window mechanism?

I just don't want to booger up the tailgate.

Hey Mo,

Going from memory here. The width matches a #12 screw, but the thread pitch matches a #10 screw. The hardware store by my house has an enormous collection of odd-ball fasteners, but I couldn't find anything that perfectly matched those screws.
I think I just ended up using the smallest tapered oval head screw I could find that was still big enough to fit tight in the hole. Thread pitch be damned!

I've got a similar odd mix of screws holding down the metal straps on my carpet.

In case you were wondering, I've still got that '87 GW taking up space in my garage. Been too busy fixing other stuff on my '77 to bother stripping much off the '87. Weather's getting bad, so I'm starting to miss my heated garage. :-(
