I am restoring a 1987 J-20. It has factory 3 point mirrors. I noticed that the passenger door mirror sits about 1"-2" closer to the front of the door than the drivers mirror, which is centered on the vent window. All the holes on both doors are painted not bare metal, so I'm figuring this is factory placement.
Using my best "Google-Fu", I did quite a bit of picture research, and it seems that there is a large percentage of J-trucks that have the passenger door mirror set further forward.
So...any consensus on this? Insider information? Reasoning? Or am I just being to OCD? No mater what, the passenger door holes will be welded up and mirror placement will be symmetrical, at least on mine.
Interested in your thoughts, or at least where your mirrors sit.
