    1977 Wagoneer - Frank Almaas

I live in the middle part of Norway called Nord-Troendelag.

If you find Norway on a map you could maybe find a town called

Trondheim and I live 50 miles north of that town.

There are not so many FSJ in Norway but I know of a 79 Cherokee and a

81 Chief close to me. I do think that Sweden has got more FSJ than Norway

because of the high taxes on vehicles in Norway. The last new Wagoneer I

saw for sale here was $ 95,000,-

The gas prices are horrible $ 4,86 to 5,31 pr. gallon!! One dollar equals

    6,70 Nkr.

...a picture off my rig taken during one off last summer's weekend tours.

My rig is a 1977 Wagoneer with a rebuilt 360 bored .030 over and balanced

with ported heads, Edelbrock Performer manifold, PAW camshaft, 9:1 comp,

Holley 600 vacuum carb, BlackJack headers and a custom buildt 2 1/2" double

exhaust. It makes around 320hp+. I get around 13 mpg with good luck!

It's lifted with a 4" Trailmaster kit and 3" body lift and runs 33x12,50x15

on 15x10 rims. I plan to install 36x12,50x15 Swampers. It wasn't done on

the picture but I also cut out the rear fenders 2" to have room for the

    tires.

The rest of the drivetrain are TH400 rebuilt with a B&M Transkit, Q-Trac

    with a MileMarker part-time kit, Dana 44 with 3,73 and Lock-Rights.

    Everything is rebuilt.

I converted the AC compressor to an on-board air supply with an air-tank

from a tow truck. I also converted the vacuum activator for the 4wheel

drive on the Q-trac to run on air rather than vacuum (It failed all the

time and the Q-tracs are rare in this country)

In Norway it's not legal to go offroading not even on the snow in the

winter. The only places we legally can drive is on farmland who is not

defined as "outland" (I don't know the what the same type of land would be

called in your country). It has to have some sort of fence around it to be

legal. We also sometimes get permission to use the military areas. The fees

if you get caught are $ 2.500 - 5.000,- but if we do not get caught.!!!!

Despite all that the off-road clubs in the area are quite big and active.

    Happy Wheelin'
