Tailgate window half on/half off track - special kind of stupid

Tailgate window half on/half off track - can't open

I loaded a double oven in back...I guess I didn't slam the tailgate home because the oven pushed the passenger side of the window out of the track (to the outside)...driver side remains within the track.

The window won't go down more than 5".

searched site but all I can find is the usual dead motor/bad wiring.

any suggestions? thanks

So you have an oven in the back, with the tailgate closed, the glass stuck 5" down, off the passenger track, and can't open the tailgate?

Not sure I can help, but can I just get a picture? Lol.

Have to figure some way to get it all the way back up and press it back over onto the slide.

It goes back up...which was convenient with the snow just dumping around here.
But it won't just pop back into the track.
I'm assuming I have to open up the tailgate panel and disengage the whole system.

The bolts for the slides are on the outside of tailgate which is closed and inaccessible.

If you have an oven in the back I'd imagine you can't get to the access panel.

You have a small space to insert a pry tool at the top of tailgate and into the groove of slide and pull up and pry the metal window bar back onto the slide.

How hard have you pushed down manually while trying to lower the window to force it on down? Don't hold me accountable if the window shatters.

well

The oven can move forward with the seat folded or removed

If you go inside & remove the tailgate carpet & loosen the window track screws you can probably get it down then open the gate remove access panel & fix.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

What a temperamental beast.
After refusing to budge more than 5" where I had parked...
I moved her to a different spot...
Window rolled down fine. Able to open/close the tailgate. Window ran up with both side remaining in track...easily.
She must've been mad at me.
Thanks all...

Lol.

I wonder how many people will try parking in a different spot now to try and fix their back windows when they get stuck....

Body flex, they are fairly prone to it on uneven surfaces.
I'd venture a guess w/ a 2" body lift you have more than w/o a body lift.

I feel your pain...

...because I need to restore the wiring, the electric motor, tracks and weatherstrip on my tailgate ('82 Wag Lim)...

LOL! I was thinking the same thing.
