    Quick Surging Under Load

    Hi All,

The 86 Wag-oh-ner with the newly inserted 304 runs nicely but twice now I have been going up a hill (not steep, but a long hill. About half way up the truck surges, like I'm letting my foot off, accelerating, off, accelerating, but much faster than I could possibly do that with my foot.
    Fuel? Timing? Torque converter?
It has a Holley 600 cfm, new; new timing chain; new fuel pump eccentric cam; new timing gear; TF727....
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    Shawn

Did you set float level, check fuel filter and can possibly be an issue in the fuel tank, to lean? Can be ignition issue, cutting out, bad connections, faulty ignition? Getting to hot, pinging/knocking?

      Thanks Wiley.
My bet is on the ignition, as I have had nothing but problems since the install. Probably wiring, which is still "temporary". Nothing in ignition is stock anymore, so I won't bother anyone with questions here.
Fuel pump is relatively new and the tank (poly) and lines were all cleaned out after I bought it, maybe 200mi /3 yrs ago (no, don't drive it much...).
The Holley came off my CJ which ran perfectly, so I don't think it needs any adjustments, but I guess each engine is different, so I'll check a/f mix next.

Before I could finish my sentence today, a friend blurted out "float level!" So, guess that will be where I start.
