From time to time someone will post a link to that site. Glad to see somebody is getting one. Congrats Larry!

That's awesome!

Please post photos of the hood when it arrives and your opinion of the quality.

I wonder how the weight compares to the stock hood?

Other than being permanantly rust free and having a built-in air scoop what would be the pros and cons of the glasshood?

Same hoods as J trucks.

I don't think the stock hood on my 88 weighs very much. I've lifted it off by myself many times.

I really need one. I cant even put a wing nut on my air cleaner. I used a lightly balled piece of aluminum foil on top of my carb to smash and see if the air cleaner was gona hit back when I finished the 401 install. Very tight.

I wanted back then to run a 1" carb spacer. Now I'll be able to, and go to a 4" tall air cleaner.

They said it will take 5 weeks before it will ship. Plus they are very foggy in freight charges....from $81-$185.

Then they said $131 over the phone....but the email they sent with all it's disclaimers says freight charges may change at any time.
Seems the $131 is right about in the middle.

But I don't care...I'm getting a cowl hood Man!

yoslvr442 you better hurry before they go off sale.

Later

Larry

Those fiberglass hoods aren't any lighter than stock steel. You can buy race weight fenders to actually loose weight but on the street hitting a bug at 45 mph darn near cracks them. I have a fiberglass Dodge Max Wedge scoop and it weighs twice as much as an original one. My brothers fiberglass cowl hood for his Javelin weighs as much as his orig steel.

Heeeeeeeey Brad Marsh put me on that site a while back. I have never seen an FSJ with one.

They look pretty sweet. When I've replaced everything else on mine, I may get one

At least if your radiator hose breaks you will know it as the fluid will spray all over your windshield. Come to think of it all the oil blowby will end up there as well.
Am I jealous or what?

since the cowel intake opening is in that highpressure area at the base of the windshield I'd think that the likelyhood of anything exiting that way would be pretty low, at least at road speeds. I've seen a number of trucks and cars with that type of rear-facing cowel intake and I don't ever recall seeing any undue mess on them.
Now maybe when you are "wheel'n" at very low speeds and at high rpms it might be different.
The whole under-hood airflow dynamic is a bit arcane to me.
