I was hoping to use my original seats in my 83 Cherokee but it looks like the drivers seat frame is busted which causes the seat to lean back more than the passengers seat and it's just flimsy feeling. I've been looking at the aftermarket seats by Bestop,Smitty Built, and Rugged Ridge. My Jeep has nutmeg interior and Rugged Ridge is the only one I've found with nutmeg seats so that's a plus....I might could get by with spice colored seats though. Here are my questions and concerns for those who have ran aftermarked seats:
Since my Jeep is a 2 door, I need a seat that folds, I'm not really concerned about reclining, but it has to fold forward.
Most of the seats I've found have a knob you turn to recline but don't mention if they fold forward or not.
Could the folding seat frames from a CJ be adapted to work?
I'm 6'2" 245lbs so the seat needs to be fairly wide and very sturdy.
What do you do with the center armrest/seat when using aftermarket seats?
What did you do about making the stock rear seat match?
I love the look of the original low back seats and I want to stay with that look.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
