    Valve stem seals...360 '88

So I know Felpro seals are problematic, and that they aren't correct.
I have some from a whole gasket kit, a white set, and a black set.
Can I measure them to see if they're ok to use?

Or is there an off the shelf seal from someone else that is better, and does anyone have part#?

My '88 is going through oil @ an alarming rate, and I'm hoping that changing them will reduce this some.

Are you changing them in the vehicle or do you have the heads off ? if they're off check the guides , if they're shot seals won't help a lot.

Stock valve seals aren't really seals they're more like oil deflectors. " umbrellas " actually. if they fit semi snug on the stem and have a diameter that covers the guide that's about all you're looking for.

If you're machined for positive seals then the choice of seals is more important. I like the viton ones they seem to work well. DO NOT use the white teflon seals unless you like smoke.

Changing in the jeep, if they were off I wouldn't be asking.
@130K+ I'm sure the guides are worn, but the seals are likely original as well.

A lot of the time they're cracked and laying on the bottom.

I've had good luck with the green viton umbrellas on worn guides . they stop more oil than stock seals . I think they're as good as it gets short of new guides.

Unless I'm missing something I don't see anyone that offers Viton seals(ready to install) for AMC heads.

          Questions in 1st post...

Ones I already have...Guessing from mid-late '90's from AMC full engine gasket kit stored indoors.
          Nylon 5P00557 measure ~ .372 ID
          Polyacrylate 5P00555 measure ~ .342 ID

Given above choice(s), I'd probably install the Nylon ones, BUT if there is a better set I can buy and install???

I can't remember if AMC is 11/32 or 3/8 but both available. all that matters is stem diameter the rest is universal on umbrellas.

Big block Mopar's are 3/8 and I think AMC is as well. if not chevy's are mostly 11/32 and those of course are easy to get.

Local napa used bb chevy ones when they did my heads if memory serves. Memory is getting bad though. Worked fine.
