    What frames fit

    Greetings,

Have an 89 Grand Wagoneer. What year frames are compatible with this model? I can possibly get my hands on some frames for 77 cherokees and some older ones that are in great shape (non rust states) but the question is what frames will this 89 body fit on?

It'd be better if someone else could confirm this, but I believe I saw that from 1974 on up is all the same. So yea, that should work if its coming from a 4 door.
2 doors have a different wheelbase compared to the 4 door fsj's

I saw that thread about you looking for one. So, how bad is your frame? If it aint as bad as mine you don't really need a replacement. You just "want" a replacement. You should see my terrible frame that I'm still driving on. Its BAD, at the gas tank area, few holes in the back behind the wheel and no rear body mount brackets left... rotted apart and off. Everything on it is also rust welded together. Its FUN to work on!!!

Mine is pretty bad. I want to keep the rig and restore it. Unfortunately i dont have welding ability. The entire frame is rusted. The fuel tank area is in horrible shape. Other sections are bad. In fact the tank is hanging on by the inner body mounts only. The side near the frame rails has already come through the rail. Definitely dont just want one, it needs it.

The two door and four door have the same wheel base and frame. However, the fame you'll want to look for is '86-'91 as those years will have the correct bumper, track bar, and fuel tank mounting provisions.

Hmm, sounds like mine... or maybe slightly worse. I'm getting off subject here but, was yours undercoated as well in its life? I think that that is mines major problem. Bad undercoating that held water and whatever else to the frame. It peels off in sheets where it still has it.

Really huh, thought I saw that the 2 doors were shorter wheelbase by a couple of inches. They don't look like you could fit the standard 2nd set of doors behind the driver and passenger doors

This is AMC magic! They were experts at making styling changes to the same body for years and years. The wide track Cherokees look less like 4 doors will fit because the rear wheel wells are larger than the narrow tracks. If you look at a narrow track Cherokee, it is easier to invision the rear doors. With the exception of the bumper mounts, the frames and suspension were the same from 76 thru 91. The one piece bumpers started in 79 and have different frame mounts than the 3 piece.
