Does any duraspark distributor fit our AMC engines?

Hey guys I'm trying to get my (new to me) 76 j20 going and it has the prestolite setup. I want to change it to the duraspark distributor with tfi upgrade. First I need to source a motorcraft distributor so before I go ordering one online, would it be possible that any of the piles and piles of 80s ford trucks in my local junkyards might have something I can use with maybe just a gear change? It would be so convenient to be able to just pluck one locally

My two cents, find a points distributer and put a Petronix or equivalent electronic conversion in it and be done. I'm running three vehicals with said setup and they've been flawless for many years..

I have three 401s with Skip White HEI. Another 401 has points dizzy. It will likely get an HEI. Skip White doesn't sell them anymore but there are other sources available. Price is reasonable and I like the single wire installation. I do keep a couple spare modules on hand but haven't needed to swap one out in several years.

I have a working duraspark module and the wiring left over from my build I would sell for cheap. I have a used original timing gear, too. They were on my 401 before I went to EFI.

You have to get an AMC dizzy. The Ford housings do not fit. Everything else is the same though (the pickup, cap, and rotor) except the vacuum can. I think you can get a cheap AMC dizzy from all the McParts stores, still though.

If you're looking to swap the distro out, I'd second the HEI option fulsizjeep mentioned. Have had a 258 with HEI and did a TFI upgrade on an 80 360. Just from comparing those two, I'd seriously consider HEI for any FSJ conversions (on the low end...MSD, etc. is another level altogether).
