Full size chevy seats in a FSJ

Well after a lot of hearing that it couldn't be done, i finally got my new seats swapped in. The donor was a 92 Chevy burb. The general concensus was that the seats are too tall and too wide. I'm 6'2" and i dont have any problem with hitting my head on the roof.

I started out mocking up the GM seats to the factory jeep seat bases.

The spread on the mounting holes is obviously different so time to break out the welder and add some steel. I tried to keep from adding height to the seat bases here...

just tacked for a test fit:

a coat of paint for good measure...

Thanks for sharing and giving a good writeup. Did you think about putting in spacers to raise them at all?

I thought he said he didn't want to lift it due to his height?

I had a friends dad who had a early 90's southern comfort edition 1500 series truck. The seats were like lounge chairs and the armrest had a wood finish that would go well with the waggy. I just don't know how to match to my maroon interior.

                Good job on your upgrade!

I have a set of bucket seats and a bench seat that look very similar from a Chevy Astro Van if anyone is interested. I was going to install in my 64 Wagoneer but wanted something more sporty. I am in Bakersfield, California.

                        stock jeep frames?

So you basically welded the new seat to the existing bracket and kept the old controls to the front of it?

Looks good. I always hated that I could not change the angle of the backrest independant of the seat bottom on the GW.
