Who Hoo! Been looking on All Of Craigslist for months now, looking to replace my '76 (Old Ironsides) with something more family friendly. I really had wanted a '75 WT Cherokee but so few of them exist... Plus my wife said 4 doors was essential, hence the search for a Wagoneer. We live in CA, so pre smog ('75 and earlier) is a huge plus.
I ended up finding a '79 Wagoneer, straight body, no rust, original paint, an Idaho rig. PO had spent a TON of effort getting it mechanically cherry. He bought a BJs/S&J engine (which still has 4 years left on warranty), which has 5000 miles on it. He rebuilt the TH400, and spent a lot of effort getting the ride squeak free, He replaced all window and door seals. He replaced the carpet. He put a headlight relay harness. All smog equipment is there. With the sale came a huge file of all the work, which included a maintenance schedule of all fluid changes.
Everything works from the cruise control to the rear window to the AC!
While I am sad to send Old Ironsides down the road (I'm going to part it out and hope that members will carry on its legacy), we are all super excited about having a new FSJ in our family! The best part is that my wife is all fired up about driving it all the time!!
Cheers,
