There has been some discussion in the past of an engine plate that bolts to the intake (where the carb site).
There more than a few that think the smaller bolts that hold the carb to the intake and bolts holes in that area are not strong enough to safely hold an engine.
Also, these folks claim that the yanking and jerking of an engine as sometimes one needs to do to get it free, it really bad news for an intake.

I have never used one (because I never owned to use)
I've used larger bolts in the ends of the heads.
One on the back drivers side and one on the passenger side front.
Why there? ...because I can get the holes easy.
These are larger bolts, 1/2, 9/16, maybe 5/8...I do not remember.
I used grade 8 hardware
I then use lift brackets that came with my engine hoist weight redistribution sling.
I bolt these brackets to the heads.
I had to get longer chains.
Whatever you do and no matter how you do it, be safe!
