It would be nice if it was made to cover the whole fan blade up top, unlike the OEM.

When i first got my present GW, there was a 2"spacer between the fan clutch, and water pump. That made the fan tuck under the shroud nicely. But after i changed to the aluminum radiator, it wouldnt fit w the spacer. Id lke to find a 1 1/2" spacer to make it fit under the shroud better. But i agree. The shroud should have come out farther and go under the fan too. A lot of airflow is lost under there.

        Fan shroud question

I am also looking for the fan shroud. Been googling for days and stopped at local junkyard. I found them for 4 cylinder, but can't find anything for the V8 360. I have an 82 cherokee. Will this aluminum one work? Or any place that has nos??

Why not just make your own shroud?

Here are the steps I took to make a fiberglass fan shroud: Step 1: Use 1" insulating foam to build the buck (form). The foam layers are hot glued to each other and to a 1/4" mdf backer board. Step 2: Shape the buck with sandpaper: Step 3: Notice the tilt of the foam. A wedge of foam was glued in to account

            Impressive shroud build

I saw the link on how you made your own. Very nice, but probably more than this girl wants to do! I am trying to motivate just to clean engine compartment while motor is out being rebuilt! Thanks! Carol

Actually the fan needs to be about half in and half out of the shroud for best airflow, been hotroddin cars and trucks (taxing the cooling systems) for 40 years and the factory's have it right. The Fan needs to be exposed for max air movement, another thing that makes a big difference is an air dam to create a vacuum under vehicle to help get air through radiator..

Will the aluminium shroud work with a BJ's cross-flow radiator though?

Bufurd is correct. When I built the shroud I figured it would be easier to trim it back then to add material to it. To my surprise though the darn thing worked way to good. Since I didn't have a need to trim it back I figured it would save my fingers when setting the timing. One day I might trim it back but for now it is just easier to do nothing.

You can always customize your shroud, a little trip to your local plastic shop, it is 1/8" or about, fix and trim w metal snips as needed

                    The OEM for info

and you can add a little at the bottom as well

The bottom is a 2 stage process

                          Or adjusting the timing.
The fan needs to be half exposed to operate at max efficiency, also the gap in the bottom works with the low pressure zone (better with air dam) to draw the hot air under the body instead of onto the engine.
