wiring question?

ok so i am in the middle of a 5.3 swap in my '73 J4000. using this diagram http://oljeep.com/gw/elec/73/73_FSJ_...agramPage2.jpg . the only exterior lights that work are my headlamps high #3 and low #25. i have power to the marker and turn lamps#5,8,19 but they do not work? on the dash switch i have now power for the dash lamps ##66, but everything else is working properly. also the light blue wire that goes from the dash switch to the starter solonoid S terminal #12, i now have that going to the starter on the 5.3 as it looks to give power in the crank position, but does it have somthing to do with the lights. the ignition switch ground wire #57 used to go the porportioning valve, now sience i have changer porportioning valves where should that go? any help will be much apreciated, Austin.

Ok, Let's see. First of all, use the lt blue wire to activate a starter relay or you are going to burn something up. Just a simple automotive relay will work. Use the relay to power the "solenoid" in the starter. It has nothing to do with lights.

As for your marker lights, if you have power, you are missing the ground. If you painted your core support seperately, then put it back on, you have bad grounds. That probably also goes for the dash lights.

The black wire that went to the proportioning valve is for the brake system warning switch. If something went wrong with the brakes, it is supposed to ground out and turn on the brake warning light. Do with it what you please.

It ain't fun till bad grounds start to turn things on.

the marker and turn lights i have power on both wires going to the socket, that cant be right? there are only two grounds to the core support and if they were bad the headlights would not work?

Looking at the schematics, take the #57 wire and ground it. Make sure the light switch is off and the trun signal lever is in the center/neutral position. The parking/signal lights aren't set up so that one wire is hot and the other is ground. There is a ground coming off the light switch, make sure it is there and good. Just make sure #57 is grounded and see what happens.

Any update. those schematics give me a headache. Plus there is a chunk missing between the first two pages.
