Ouray is a town in southwestern Colorado where we hold our yearly FSJ invasion. i would say i probably have about 20 hours in physical labor on the cab. but hundreds of hours in thinking and planing, if you have a good plan made beforehand everything goes so much faster.

how about some more updated to this. got my brake lines ran and all hooked up, made of stainless steel. also made a new metal glovebox. with a mount for an aftermarket sterio. i had to re route the defrost ducts to do this but it wasn't a big deal. i am keeping the original radio in the dash just because it looks so cool. mounted two speaker under the dash, i didn't want to ruin the look of the door panels by cutting holes in them. also made some trim panels with speakers for behind the rear seats.

got some more little things finished while i have been waiting for my motor to arive, should be here monday so stay tuned! i made a headliner using some posterboard and ducttape. once i cover it with some fabric i think it will look really nice. for a dome light i used some "accent" LED light from the parts store, they are really bright, even though the camera dosn't show it well. went to the junk yard and got a steering shaft from an XJ to get rid of the ragjoint. it took some work to make it fit with the older shaft. i was able to cut the old shaft and slide the XJ shaft in and weld it together. my steering components and kinda mismatched, lets see. upershaft is original '73, lower XJ, box is from an J20, pitman arm is stock waggy, custom draglink with GM 1 ton ends, and the stock ford superduty tierod. so now here are the pictures.

Looking great as usual

What are you using for a welder? Those welds are better than the factory stuff.

Motor swap is in full swing now! it is a GM 5.3L, 4l60E, np251 combo.

packaged and shipped very well.

custom harness made by howell, all the wires are labled.

hooker block hugger headers. i had to notch the motor mount on the passenger side for it fit, but it really wasn't a big deal.

BeCool aluminum cross flow radiator.

oil pan clearance is a bit tight so i may have to change, still planing a 2 inch lift so i will wait and see.

dual electric fans

PCM and realays for fans and fuel pump

fuse block mounted inside

Inspiration

Well, looking through your project has inspired me to do the same, so I have started the brain storming phase of Combining a 86 Grand Wagoneer and my 84 J10 into one crew cab long bed like yours. Just in the tire kicking/planning phase right now, but after seeing yours, I have to have one of my own.
