Thanks for posting this Tad. This a very big issue here in Arizona. Basically, the Forest Service has used taxpayers dollars to destroy this trail. They have also taken money away from our education system.

The State Trust land, which extends all the way to Kiss Rock (the first three miles of the trail that was "maintained"), is intended to provide education funds for our schools. Instead, due to the involvement of Arizona Game and Fish, these State Trust lands are being used to provide access to USFS lands at no cost to the USFS. The access should be funded through the eminent domain acquisition rights of the USFS and the 5th Amendment of the Constitution.

In other words the USFS should buy the easement right of way from the private land owners or the State Of Arizona with the funds provided to the USFS rather than burdening the AZ taxpayers with the budget shortfall while the Fed get a free ride.

Most of the country has no idea that this work, destroying our public lands, is one of those "green jobs".

Or that they are stealing our children's education funds to do it.

The more we comment on this more our voice will be heard. Thanks in advance to everyone who comments and speaks out about this.

Sad. They are just shooting themselves and the wheeling community in the foot by opening the trail up to more people, who will create more problems....and may eventually lead to the trail being closed to everybody .

And using taxpayer money to do it....while a bunch of state parks are slated to be closed...

I wrote a letter to the Forest service asking them what was going on here last week and gues what? No response.
