    Headlight wiring

Many already know this, but the link for the headlight wiring document is no longer working: http://www.tworock.com/mjd/jeep/wiring/wiring.html

I understand the creator of that document is no longer with us. May he rest in peace.

That link is still in the Tech Library section under electrical.

Does anyone know of this document and the write-up for upgrading the headlights? Any decent substitutes for SJ vehicles?

    Thanks.

I wrote an article about the same topic - but it's for CJs, and shows the conversion on a CJ-6. May still help you. Once you understand the idea, you won't need a lot of coaching. http://earlycj5.com/xf_cj5/index.php...detail.142321/

You can use the internet archive ("wayback") to find sites that are gone: https://web.archive.org/web/20200212...ng/wiring.html The single relay conversion seems pointless to me, but to each his own.

      Excellent

      Thanks for that.

I found a copy of the file I had saved and emailed to myself for safekeeping.

I should find a way to post it to the tech library so that the document referenced remains available.

I believe this is the document Serehill stated was too complicated when its stated aim was simplicity, and his instructions were much less complicated.

I just took a look at the webarchived diagram. I agree with Tim.
Honestly I don't see what that accomplishes.

If the goal is a more direct power route to the headlights, then Rick's harness will do that. It just needs to be connected to the alternator output
        Photos and diagram here http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=184659

Daniel Stern has a relay wiring diagram on his website (something like Daniel Stern Lighting). Its a little different. Closer to what made up for my Barracuda. Same type of power distribution as the SJs up through '85. So same thing, connect to alternator output for power.
