    Intake manifold question

I'm planning on going from 2bbl to 4bbl on my 88 Grand Wagoneer and I've never taken a manifold off before.

Is the valley pan gasket a replacement for or in addition to the 'regular' intake manifold gaskets?

    Thanks!

The valley pan IS the gasket.

Buy some black RTV, and put a 1/2" bead at the front and rear of the block and through the seals they send you in the garbage.

Thanks! One less thing to buy!

I would have figured it out when I removed the manifold but I wanted to make sure as I could have sworn that you can buy the pair of manifold gaskets one for each bank. I'm sure I'm not talking about exhaust manifold gaskets.

          Another?

Is it better to go a head and replace the gasket with a new manifold?

I am planning on doing the same thing with my 82. I am not planning on hopping the motor up as of yet, just want to get it reliable in the heat. I am replacing the tank pick up sock, and adding an electric pump to the system.

What manifold/carb combinations work best for daily driving?

I can't say if it's best for a DD but this is what I will be installing this spring.

Edelbrock intake + Holly ORA 475 cfm will wake up the 360 and give you good gas milage as long as you keep it out of the secondaries. Fat chance though. Too much fun!

Just to warn you. A stock AMC V8 intake is flippin' heavy. Didn't think that you are going to just lean over the radiator and lift it off. I just want you to be ready for that.

I understand that they weigh around 53 pounds. Is that accurate?

The valley pan gasket is embossed steel that crushes when installed to fill the gaps. It is designed to be used once.

Could be. I just know its flippin heavy when you have your arms extended out over the motor.

Seems around 75 to me. My AMC 4bbl boat anchor is getting replaced by a Performer by summer. Hey, it was free.

You may want to use a cherry picker to save your back, or two big teenagers.

The Performer will help it run cooler, got em on my Fords.

The intake is about has heavy as a small block chevy cylinder head, if not heavier.
