When installing them, a lot of times you need to put a twist in them to keep them out of the way of the tire.

I honestly would not drive it until that line is replaced. Anything you do to make you think it is safe is an illusion. Anyone who tells you otherwise IS Delusional. I have been driving these things since 1976 and have never seen a rubber flex brake line swell up that was not previously damaged. I have no experience with SS ones and can't say what I think is wrong because I have no dang experience with them.

Remember the wild ride Ralph and Emily had in the RustMaster in 05? You might not be as lucky as they were Ryan. I am dead frikkin serious about this.

My money is on something getting up and catching the brake line. 6 years is long enough to have uncovered any defects.

And my money would be on not driving the Jeep until you get a replacement part in there. A trail fix would get you home but when it comes to safety, I wouldn't take any chances I didn't have to.

Be it me I'd replace that one with a different make, and do likewise to any other bought of the same maker.

As for the sheetmetal/hose clamp cure I've done that on hydraulic lines to get through the rest of a job with a piece of heavy equipment, but when it comes to brakes I guess I'm gonna be a little weird about the idea and say no way hose a.

looks like the braiding fatigued and burst. time has little to do with it. brake applications do. 6 years isn't much of a run. probably woulda broke in 2 for me.

i have a set of the same lines on a wagoneer i parted out. no sheath on the outside. very thin walled too.

i've not been inspired to transfer them over to one of my drivers.

got a great deal on a set of 4 superlift SS lines coming, and thank you for the part numbers Ristow, I'll grab a pair of those too.

Yeah I snagged the jeep battery and tossed it in my 68 Volvo and got the joy of hearing it roar to life for the first time in 3 years Jeep is taking the week off.

Glad someone does :P I may use the SS ones on the Gladiator, and these K2500 ones on the jeep, dunno yet. Either way glad to have it covered. Anyone have a brand preference for Master Cylinders? There's quite a few choices.

i like Raybestos, although more and more of it is china, like the rest. if a name brand is found in u.s.a like ac delco or bendix i'd go with it.

get a cast iron unit, even if yours is currently aluminum.
