    2011 Ouray FSJ Invasion - July 20-22, 2011

We are wasting no time to start planning for 2011. This will be year 12 above the timberline in the San Juan Mountains for Krista and I and we enjoy your company on the trails up there every summer!

Plan to be checked in to the KOA by Tuesday evening (July 19) because we start hitting the trails Wednesday morning.
We have set aside some tent sites at the KOA again. They will be held open for FSJ Invasion attendees until at least the end of December 2010. Please remember: if you cancel less than 48 hours before your arrival date, you pay KOA for at least two nights. Your bill with KOA is your responsibility. Here is the KOA web site: OURAY KOA We recommend you reserve your KOA site by contacting Dave by email or call 1-800-KOA-8026 and ask for Dave. The office is open 8AM to 10PM until Labor Day. When you contact the KOA, tell them you are with the Full Size Jeep Group (not FSJ group).

    FSJ Invasion set aside sites: 44, 45, 46, 46A, 47A through F, 47, 48, 49

Please post up here or PM me when you reserve a KOA site. THANKS!

As always, bring your low range or park your big dawg at the KOA.

    Local Directions:

        Bring your radios!

Flint, if I can throw this out there: Some sort of communication device is HIGHLY recommended, either CB or FRS radios.

There was a situation on the trail this year, that actually was not a big deal safety-wise, where it would have been handy. Because of a lack of communication, which was my fault for not breaking out the spare radios, the group sat at the bottom wondering where 3 members were. Comms would have prevented this.
        90 Grand Wagoneer, 401/727/229, TFI upgrade, MC4350 4V, Edelbrock Performer cam, All-Aluminum Radiator, Razor Conversion, 4" Rusty's all-spring, 31x10.50 BFG TA/KO's...much planned, little time/money, thus she's a PipeDream!
Status: Up and running, but needs attention....

Thats a good idea. Flint and I had our FRS but I think Flint said we couldn't get them tuned to pick up your radios? I'll start looking around now and see if I can find some deals on a couple of new sets to keep as spare for those that don't have any.

Email went out to Dave this morning for site 45, I'll let you know when he confirms.

If someone will remember the communication thing I have a set of FRS radios I won in 'Cruces two years ago I can bring for others to use also.

What's the deal with sites 41-43? I am hoping to make this trip next year and those the closest to the bathroom!!!
Do you suppose those sites could handle a full-size truck, trailer and the GW?

Nothing wrong with those sites. We just try to keep everyone towards the back of the campground. The map is not to scale either. The bathroom is a minutes walk from the furthest site.
