    Steering wheel cross reference

I've got a 76 Honcho with the original steering wheel. I'm thinking about changing my steering wheel to something in better shape. Will a later model (80's) leather wrapped wheel work on my column? Will the horn button from my original wheel change over? What other AMC/Jeep wheels will work without modifications?

should be a direct swap. I don't think the spline/mount changed.

      XJ wheels

I have replaced the steering wheel in two of my FSJs with wheels out of XJs. Anything from 84 till 94 seems to work fine. 95+ has air bags. I used the horn button off the xj also because the other one wouldn't fit. The early gen xjs and small wagoneers had color matched wheels that will look perfect if you can find them.
Please Sir may I have Another.

AFAIK,AMC/Jeep used saginaw steering columns.I've not had any trouble switching from early model to late models.I've put '70's wheels on 60's columns, make sure you use the horn contact pins, retaining collar and spring for the wheel you're changing to,if it's different than your existing stuff.I don't support or recommend it,but most GM wheels fit also.

Does anyone know if certain years/vehicles had bigger or smaller wheels? I'd love a wheel just a bit smaller than the stock one in my '83.
