Side molding

Hi, i am new here. Short introduction: my name is Martin.
I live in the Netherlands and own a 1984 wagoneer.
It was in really nice shape but need repaint.

So we did.
But now: i bought a woodgrain kit includes moldings by team Grand wagoneer.
The woodgrain is fine. But the molding is little bit more difficult.
The strips in the set are straight. I have to cut Them for the corners. The discriptions say to use a gleu extra in the corner.
But witch one is the best to use?

And what is the best way to get the round shapes in the moldings around the wheels.?

never installed the kits before but I had installed a lot of adhesive vinyl,...

heating the moulding
while bending around wheel arches is the only way
that I can think it would work,....

you need an industrial heat gun, not just a hair dryer

you need another person waving the heat gun over the moulding
while you guide it around curves.

you may need some gloves that shield your hands from heat

don't hold heat gun in one place too long
it will ruin the mouldings finish.

I did not know you had to make cuts in corners,

...sounds like something TGW would sell,.....

extra adhesive: 3M Brand 2 sided black foam tape would be my guess.

there may be videos on youtube showing someone install the kits,....

you would think a product that costs as much as
the woodgrain and moulding kits do,....
would come with some help for the customer,....typical TGW.

good luck

Welcome!! You are not the only dutchman on here. I think there are 2 or 3. There are also a few Germans. I bet your rig looks AMAZING driving around there!

I am no help on your question (never touched the wood grain), but just wanted to say hello and thanks for joining! We would all love some pictures!!

The TGW kit comes with two strips of double stick tape that works good on straight sections. I added a third piece of tape between the two original strips for more holding power. On fenders and doors that curve you really need to clamp them. I used vise grips used for welding with large jaws that can reach under fenders. use a small block of wood on wood side to spread tension and not damage the wood. Heat gun is your friend but be careful and keep it moving as you will cook the vinyl quickly.

For those spots that keep coming undone I found Loctite Ultra Gel Control Super Glue Gel works the best. dries in about 60 seconds and does not run as it is a gel. When using put piece of masking tape under the area being glued in case a small drip occurs. Put it on, hold for 60 seconds and you are done. Good luck
