82 J10, electronic thing?, being dash grab handle, (cut it or leave)?

Removed my grab hdl to die black to match dash.
3lb, heat sync thing with several tiny wires fell down.
What is this?
Can't find in my wiring schematics?
Can I cut and fille13 it?
Only guess I've found , electronic engine control unit?
If correct, it's null and void?
MSD spark. GM alternator! Holley carb.
Worked on Amcs since 1975, first one of these I've seen?

Found the other end of wires, 8pin green connector, hooked to nothing . I took out.
Maybe some AC control ? The whole system long gone.
It's a factory piece of some kind? Fit perfectly to grab handle bolts.

Conversion from AM/FM to stereo mini amp. I found one in my ‘81 Eagle �� wagon too.
