value needed on drivetrain

I am doing an LS1 Corvette swap in my 84' GW.

It has 109k miles on the jeep. What would be a fair price for the motor (360), trans and transfer case if I sold? I also have the driveshafts as well along with the fuel tank..

I am unsure how much they are worth and figured I would ask here first before listing them to get an idea on value.

Thanks for any help!!

Regards,
Bryan

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

Put them on eBay and start the bidding at $!. What you get is what they are worth.

109k*, not high Milage I don't think, but there are plenty of people that would want the whole drivetrain out there, I bought a 1979 Cherokee not to long ago for like 50 bucks but it didn't have an engine transmission or transfer case, and I am sure there are others out there with the same problem, I just don't know how much it would be worth. Maybe 700$ tops.

Last ones I sold separately for ~$1k
$600 engine (CJ owner wanted 360 vs. 304)
$250 transmission
$200 transfer case
Took a while though, YMMV.

Thank you

Guys, thanks for the help. Sounds about right... I was thinking somewhere around the $1,000 for the lot.

I would give more for it, if I could drive it before it was pulled. Either way, they are parts. They may work for ten years, or ten minutes.

LOL

Interesting let us know how this goes for you. I think a grand would be a miracle. Most educated buyers would consider an engine not seen running as a scrap re-builder. As we all know there's one born every minute. I've seen too many nightmares from a runs great engines. 100 thousand mile engine and there has to be a reason you're getting rid of it. Best of luck. A hundred grand ls motor is no comparison to a 100 grand jeep motor. I would be shocked that they have the same value. That's what an ls motor would go for around here. The are just not in demand or that rare.

LS1

I'm more interested in the LS swap. I see you are in Central CA. Is that going to pass smog and visual inspection? I ask 1. Just for the knowledge 2. Cause I have an LT1 that I have a lead on that I could pick up and sit on for a while.

If installed w/ all emissions equipment from donor, it'll pass with flying colors. Same with an LT1.
You can swap in a newer engine legally no problem if you do it right.
A visit to a smog referee to verify everything and you're good.
They slap a label on it for future smog testing @ normal testing stations.

When you figure an attractive selling price, keep in mind a potential buyer has to consider shipping costs into his budget.

Best bet is Craigslist on heavy items like that. I normally sell a rebuild able core V8 for $250, 727 for $150 and Tcase for $150.. No warranties on anything. The AMC motors are getting harder to find and the price is going up a little.
If you have video on the motor running and it has had a rebuild in the last 50K miles [haven't they all on Clist], you may get $500+

I didn't know that's what you were going to do Bryan, that will be pretty cool. Couldn't get a Porsche motor to fit?
Good luck,
Andy

Haha

Very funny Andy! You need to come by and see.

Regarding the motor, it was running when I took it out as the only reason was to do this LS swap but I agree that unless the buyer hears it run, it doesn't help me telling him that.

I'll put on CL and see what happens. Engine, Trans and TC will all be for sale along with driveshafts. Everything else is staying and being cleaned up or rebuilt.

Thanks again for all the info!
