Cummins powered 79 Cherokee (PATH KILLER)

Hello all. About 4 years ago I set out to build an FSJ Cherokee powered by a Cummins Turbo Diesel. My Idea was to build a "go anywhere do anything" rig that was comfortable and got decent gas mileage. I figured that if I were to buy a new vehicle and upgrade it, it would start depreciating immediately.... but if I built a retro rig with all the amenities of modern luxury SUV it might hold its value better. I'm not sure if my line of thinking was valid or not but I am so far happy with the results. I started out looking for a solid Cherokee body and an old Cummins powered Dodge as a donor vehicle but ended up finding a nice Cherokee already powered by a 93 Cummins turbo diesel. I ended up completely rebuilding the entire truck piece by piece. Some of the modifications are listed below.

-93 Cummins Turbo Diesel with high output exhaust manifold and 4 inch exhaust, upgraded intake. -Dana 70 rear end with locker and disc brakes from an El Dorado -Dana 60 front -Getrag 360 transmission -Front and rear bumpers from Stainless Brain Fab -12000lb winch -on board air compressor -dual optima batteries -Hydro boost brakes -Saginaw steering mod -Air conditioning from Oldair -Navigation -Heated Pro-Car Ralley front seats -Custom top rack (built by me) -Custom Jerry Can holder (built by me) -Dual gas tanks -37 inch Goodyear Kevlar tires on 17 inch Dick Cepek rims

I'm sure there are things that I missed as its been a long road getting to this point. After all the modifications the rig gets an average of 18mpg. Not bad for what it is.....

WOW, awesome build, you have to give some more details about some of the mods. I really like the switches for the sasquatch lights, trunk monkey and passenger eject...

Nice build! I love the color scheme too.

So the switches are from OTRATTW?

James is cool if that is where you got them. I bought mine from them.
(Ristow)fram!....that deserves a ratchet upside the head.

I learned how to fly in my uncles 'Hershey Bar' 28, and he hangered with a 22.....brought back a lot of memories seeing your plane in the background.
