    Torque Converter suggestions/help

    1983 J10, 4.2L, TF727

I am struggling to find a new TC for it.
Id like one a little higher than stock

Looked at Summit and the like, but came up short.

Any suggestions would be great thanks

you have a TC727. which is for the most part redundant with TF727 in all places but 2. the tranny case, and the converter. a TF usually has a ring gear on the converter,a TC does not.

Transtar makes a nice, affordable reman TC. i've heard they quit making them for AMC applications but i think what they did is moved the AMC TC727 listings int the chrysler line,as the TC727 converter is just a TF727 converter minus the ring gear. as i recall the transtar cr54h is the factory hi stall conveter that the I6 would have had. this is a NON LOCKUP converter, which you SHOULD need. but you must verify this.

any of the aftermarket "stall" converters will likely be a little higher than that I6 would like.

this link may not work,it should be the page of their online catalog. page 638

you may have to access the catalog here and go to that page.

Why would you want a higher stall on a gutless 4x4 ?
