Greetings all, recently purchased a Wagoneer off of Craigslist that was too cheap to pass up. Needed some work to get back on the road, but after a few weeks of work into it I've been DD'ing it to work every day for the past year. The interior was pretty well shot, so I gutted the carpet and seats in favor of bare floorboards and 4 Mastercraft seats I had sitting around from another project. I replaced the factory 1973 grill with an early style Rhino grill and converted the headlights to LED units. I also replaced the factory gauges (which mostly didn't work) with gauges I found on Ebay (GPS Speedo!). Converted to Fitech EFI last month as well, and am really liking the improvement with cold starts and overall drivability. Next on the list is to replace the lift springs that are currently on it with something that gives a softer ride. The approx. 4 inch springs that are currently on it basically ride like having the axles bolted solidly to the frame, lol.

The tach on the other hand will occasionally freak out and read very erratically. I may end up replacing it with something else at some point, I think the stepper motor in it might be bad.

Nice! Love the gauges!!
I have 4" suburban springs in the rear and they match pretty well the 4" springs the PO put in the front. Stock shackles. If anything, it's a tad higher in the rear.
Here's some stuff I copied and pasted from some threads I saved:
1963-73 SJ front springs use a RB-71 (RB-128) anchor bushing and a RB-85 shackle bushing.
1963-73 SJ rear springs use a RB-87 anchor (post) bushing and a RB-85 shackle bushing.
RB-71 1-1/2" O.D. 9/16" I.D. 2-1/2" spring width
RB-79 1-3/4" O.D. 9/16" I.D. 2" spring width
RB-85 1-1/4" O.D. 9/16" I.D. 2-1/2" spring width
RB-86 1-1/2" O.D. 7/8" I.D. 2" spring width
RB-87 1-1/2" O.D. 7/8" I.D. 2-1/2" spring width
RB-123 use RB-141
RB-128 use RB-71
RB-140 use RB-85
RB-141 1-3/4" O.D. 1" I.D. 2-1/2" spring width
RB-145 use RB-71
RB-153 2" O.D. 9/16" I.D. 2-1/2" spring width
"1962-73 Wagoneers use 22 x 22 x 2 1/2 inch front springs with 9/16 ID bushings on both ends, and 26 x26 x 2 1/2 inch rear springs with 7/8 ID bushings on the post and 9/16 ID bushings on the shackle.
1974-75 Wagoneers use 22 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch front springs with 9/16 ID bushings on both ends (the same as 1976 up), but 26 x 26 x 2 1/2 inch springs on the rear (the same as 1962-73). The kicker on the rear springs is that they have a 1 inch post mount instead of a 7/8 inch like the 62-73's - same spring - different bushing. The shackle bushing is the same 9/16 inch ID.
1976 and up Wagoneers use the 22 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch front spring with 9/16 inch bushings on both ends, and a 26 x 31 x 2 1/2 inch rear springs with 9/16 inch ID bushings on both ends. "
Hope this helps. 74 and up axles are 6 bolt, but you probably already knew that.
I'm not aware the blazer fronts are the same as ours - are they 22" center to eye?1973 Wagoneer, 4.6L Jeep inline 6 stroker, t176/d300, offy dualport w/ quadrajet, pertronix, flowmaster

Those "RB" part numbers for the bushings may or may not be current - my spring shop was surprised when I ordered my last ones this past year- they said they hadn't heard an "old RB" number in quite a while, so that's why I included the measurements - there might be different part numbers for them now.
There's a couple of companies that make lift springs for our fronts - I think BJ's has some if the blazer ones don't work out.Last edited by backroadin'; 03-19-2019, 07:32 PM.1973 Wagoneer, 4.6L Jeep inline 6 stroker, t176/d300, offy dualport w/ quadrajet, pertronix, flowmaster

Thanks for the info Backroadin! I'm going to run the Bronco hubs and rotors in the front to get back to a 5x5.5 bolt pattern, I have all the parts and they look like everything should fit, but I haven't test fit it together yet.
I found the spring sizes for the Blazer here:
Call or order online to get the best prices on front leaf springs for your GMC or Chevy 4x4 truck, made during the years 1967-1972, from General Spring.
Rear:
With over 9,500+ five-star reviews, General Spring specializes in OEM replacement leaf springs and heavy-duty performance upgrades.
They are both the same length as our Wagoneer springs (22x22) (26x26) but the Blazer is SOA configuration in the front, so to get a 4 inch lift with Blazer springs on a SUA waggy I'd probably need a 6 or 8 inch lift spring to account for the thickness of the axle tube. Been looking at these for the front:
And these for the rear:
