I am slowly working towards getting a gm tbi setup on the engine I am installing in my truck. I decided to make it complicated and went with the 16197427 PCM and wiring harness from a 1995 k1500 with 5.7 engine. I have separated the wires from the harness to get what I need, but I am not sure what to do with the oil pressure switch wires and the a/c sensor wires.
If I understand it right, the oil pressure switch only serves as a secondary current source for the fuel pump. Assuming the fuel pump relay is properly supplying power to the fuel pump, is there any reason at all to keep that switch in the circuit?
On pin e12 there is what I believe to be the a/c clutch sensor wire. In some posts is says to simply connect this wire to the existing wire that energizes the a/c clutch to provide a signal to the PCM that can be programmed to increase the idle speed when the clutch is energized. The wire in the harness I am starting with is green and seems to be the wire that would normally energize the clutch on the k1500 system. It terminates in a metripack connector along with a black ground wire. About 10 inches before the connector, the black and green wires go into a little white thing that according to the schematic I found, contains a diode and actually connects the green wire to the ground wire through that diode. I don't know what to do with these wires. Can I just connect the green wire that is connected to pin e12 to the existing a/c clutch wire and ignore the ground and diode setup? Is e12 the clutch sensor wire pin, or did I mess that up?
