Doing extra days is the way to go. That is when you can make it . Both trips out for me have been long winding off the main grid drives. I do the interstate back so I can stay until Sun am at the KOA.
Having 4-5 days alone in Ouray is great. I've done alot of the roads around there that are not on the vacation roster.
I most definitely want to do the alcohol drinking , brat eating ride in the stretch limo thing over Ophir Pass in 2010.
Now can someone point me to some nice campground shots. I'm interested in the area over by Flatback. spaces 41-44. Need to see how much room is over there. Shade also, my pooch requires quiet and much distance from the NE weiners . Actually I think without the cat there trying to hypnotise her she would of warmed up to the broken weiner.
A boss at work would also like alot of campground shots as he will be there also. I think he will be there a week or so before us though.
Thanks in advance and see you there. I want to make reservations this weekend as I determine which site will work best. I might have to borrow some trailer parking room back in the party area. Then again it just might become a portable mobile tent and deck. I have some things in the works now. I'll be using the F350 to trailer my Jeep out.
My memory tells me the layout of the campground in this thread is shifted some to better fit the puter screen. I know this is KOA's map but like I said they have changed it a little or else my memory is fried.
Isn't the pull through sites more down in front of the bath house?
I'd like some pics to refresh my memory of how it was all laid out.Last edited by HOOT; 08-07-2009, 10:05 AM.Tom Gibson

Thanks for the offer though.
Did you go over Stoney Pass and the head waters of the Rio Grand again? I absolutely love that trail.
So who has KOA campground area shots.? Would like some that show that whole back area or campsite pics. I need some pics to show the guy at work who is staying there next year.Tom Gibson

Request>>> Put up a shot of the KOA map and who was where in the yearly pic folders. You guys do a good job with making those public. I for one enjoy them very much as do the guys at work.
I started to go through your pics from this year but got tired of indexing through 20 shots of the same thing. You using speed shutters now? LOL.
My poor computer was in download hell.. For some reason I can't view Photobucket at work cause it is flagged as porno.
Photobucket is causing me to lock up for some reason at home. so I was looking for clues as where to find the pics without spending a month looking for them. If anyone knows plese inform me.
ThanksTom Gibson

Would like to see how the sites across from where phil stays are like. I know they are different then the adjoining sites down near the turn or party area. Curious on shade trees and how much in the open they are.
Would also like to see a shot of the area over near 49-53 and where the pull throughs begin back up to the shower house.
Just trying to put it all in perspective as the drawing of the campground is skewed to fit the page. I just can't remember how it actually looks. I was to photograph that whole back area for a boss at work and I never even made it there .
Dave is saying the spot I want is a small and may not be enough for a trailer and tow rig.Tom Gibson

gotcha.
The spots across from Phil are a little smaller than some of the other spots (going off of memory). The biggest spot is the party spot.
One nice thing about the spots across from Phil is they get more shade in the morning since there is a hill behind them. If you have a tent, that means longer before the sun hits you and wakes you up.
The back spots are nice because they have less traffic.
The one Flint and Krista use is a good spot but there seems to be a lot of foot traffic going through it...
You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a place to park the towing rig. There is room over by the party spot. And sometimes folks part stuff by the open area in the middle.82 Cherokee WT ?
