New to me: 1987 J20 Pioneer

As you might have read, IFSJA Member Rick Bielec aka 'Ricbee' passed away later this summer.
I've been in contact with his son that is the Executor of Rick's Estate.
Sounds simple, right? Not in your wildest dreams could you ever image the amount of stuff Rick has collected.
Most would say Rick was a hoarder and he fits that definition very well.
I say he was a collector.
Rick was into many things, like Volkswagens, both air cooled and water cooled; motorcycles, scooters and Jeeps of all sizes and eras.

Halloween, my son Nathan and I traveled to Rick's home to help Josh and Rick's brother to sort through some of this stuff.

    To make a long sorry short, I bought Rick's 1987 J20 Pioneer.
    It's rough, rusty and brown.
It has a Western Snow plow mounted on the nose of this rustbucket.
Rick has installed some electric Wagoneer seats in the cab.
It has an aluminum truck cap protecting the bed.

Rick had the back this rig full, two AMC 360's, a Rough Country Lift kit, misc other parts.

I did not take any pictures.
Being Halloween and Josh has small children at home, we did not have time to do anything with it.
I did not take delivery of this truck as Josh wanted some time to clean out the bed and find the title.
I am planning to go back on Saturday to bring this truck home.

Glad you got it. Sorry about the member passing. Was 1987 one of the last years for the J-trucks? Please post up some pics when you get them.

'88 was the absolute last year, but very few were produced that year.

          Sad Day

          I am sad Rick passed.

Talked with him in March and he had high hopes of getting better. UGH.

Have been to his place a few times... Is his son posting items on this site?

Hello Bryan, Your new J20 may have the trailer hitch that I made for Rick so he could save more FSJ’s.

I was in Centralia Mo. to pick up a 1978 Wagoneer that I bought. I stoped in town to gas up on my way home. Guess who I see driving an old Chevy Truck with a J10 in tow as I walked out of the store? Rick had purchased the J10 on EBay in Centralia and went to pick it up the same time I was there. Imagine that!

We decided to drive together and it was a good thing. Rick was using a tow bar and could not manage most turns without jamming. We had to get the jack out several times during the trip. We almost had to spend the night in a motel.

Are you and your children connected yet?

No sir, his son has not.
I bought a couple of small items and the J20.
I think Zach is going to purchase the body parts, fenders, tailgates, doors, hoods, etc...stuff like that.
In the yard, there is a:
              - Yellow J10, short wheel base, with a 'rhino grill' and Golden Eagle decal on the door.
              - a 80's J truck cab and front clip on a Wagoneer frame, no drivetrain.
              - a late 70's J10, short wheel base.
              - a narrow track Cherokee.
The rig that Rick was using the most recent and the best looking truck of all, was a red '82 J10 with a 4" lift, 33' tires.
Rick's son mentioned he wanted $3500.
Rick had a very Grand Wagoneer, but his son has sold it already.

                Greetings!!
No sir, this truck does not have a hitch of anytype.
It has a 2" ball mounted on an aftermarket chrome plated step bumper.
IMHO, that ball on that bumper is only good for a light popup camper or single axle trailer hauling a riding lawn mower.
The Red J10 I mentioned in the above posting is setup for towing.
Rick used the J10 to tow a really nice wood decked, dual axle car trailer.
This trailer was one the items I purchased.
Sadly, the last time that J10 with the trailer still connected, turned a wheel was when Rick backed it to the spot I found it.

                  Bryan,
Just learned about Ricbee after popping back into the forums here. He sure was a great guy. I found out that Gary Miller also passed, the guy that made floor pans to order.
Good to see your still into the full size Jeeps.
Are you driving the plow rig?
                  Miss hearing from you.
