Thanks all. In 2-weeks I'm taking the bed off to plate the lower part of the doors, cut larger rear wheel wells, mount J-truck flairs on it for a OEM look, and have it color matched to the truck. Yes I'll post some pic when it's mounted back on the truck. Know another funny thing that's happened since I temporarily mounted the box on the bed?? I've had several contractors stop to check it out and ask if it's for sale!! When I mount the 4BT in it they'll really want then!!!Jason in the Mountains

There's nothing wrong with D70 front axles. They might be thinking of the weak D60's that are in the M715. But then alot of people think if its not an open knucle axle its weak.

Lots of folks here and on the Great Lakes 4X4 forum poo-pooed the idea of using monster axles like these.
I was told all kinds of silliness, like these era Dana 70 are weaker than a Dana 44.
I say you got them...run them!
Let the naysayers know how well they work! HAHAHAHA!!

Ohh I know how strong a D70 front is, we have one on the two the old Dodge brush trucks we have here have that same axle under both of them. A lot of weight on these old trucks. I plan to use the axle as is for now though depending on how it brakes I may have to change it over to disc in the front.Jason in the Mountains

So an update......
As we FSJers are, I found a new direction with this project, mostly with the bed....... As I said before I loved the way this one looked....
....but I also loved the look and function of this one.....
So as it was a local tractor shop needed to build a service truck. They offered to buy the service bed I had. Before I agreed I started looking for another one that would fit a dually.
During a search on-line I came across this.....
....now after a 7 hour turn around today from Delta and $800.00 cash, I have a running driving 73' Dodge dually with a working dump bed. So the plan is pull the dump bed off and place it on the 73' J4800. Bolt on the duals, mount the Vee plow, and have some fun this winter!!!!Last edited by COLOFIREMAN; 09-04-2010, 10:57 AM.Jason in the Mountains

Thank all.
Here's my focus vehicle. I know it's a Ford but I used it was a test to see if the bed would look with a two tone truck. I could've painted it match but I don't think it would've looked right. I plan to paint the bed black just like this one, I photoshoped the red on it.....
I always like the contrast between my two tone truck, black bumpers, black flairs, and black work bed in this picture......
I know it's going to be a work truck but I wanted both a clean lined, well put together looking truck. I plan to re-undercoat the flares and re-paint the front bumper black at the same time as the dump bed. What do ya all think?
Really I would like to knowLast edited by COLOFIREMAN; 09-19-2010, 12:38 AM.Jason in the Mountains
