Made a little more progress tonight. Spent a lot of time lining everything up and marking for the cuts in the floor. The only thing that doesn't clear is where the cargo floor steps up under the back seat. Basically just cut a slot for the frame rail to stick through. I've still got to cut them a little bigger and box them in but I think the pics show it better than I can explain it.
This pic shows how well the frame tucks up inside the body. It's from before I notched the back so it fits even better now.
.
And finally, the money shots. I'm glad I went 1" longer wheelbase to center the front wheels, that always bugged me on a stock rig. Once I get some weight on this thing it's going to sit down pretty good on those 30x12.5" rear tires (the rollers it's got now are 28's) Also another thing to note is that the front track width is pretty wide and may be a problem for a narrow trac Waggy.
Yep, I know my PM box is full. Email me instead.

This is great and for a drag car the Chero (for it's weight) really has an advantage with the weight distributed to the rear right where you want it. Now... you didn't find that clean ring in Michigan did you? That's awesome! I also appreciate the AMC going in a GM chassis for a change and I'm going to love watching your videos of this rig stomping Chevy's.*** I am collecting pics and info on any factory Jeep Dually trucks from the J-Series at the new Jeep Dually Registry.

The origins of the body are pretty interesting. I got the body without a current title from 83LaredoWT out of Wisconsin. I don't remember where he got it from but it had an OLD Florida title and registration stickers from Italy. So basically it's been all over the place, lol. Here's some pics of the stickers it's accumulated over the years.

Just a small update, got the body mounts cut but haven't had time to weld them on. Really been focusing my time on the engine build. Got the heads finished and assembled, the short block was together until I noticed a big 'ol crack in #8 cylinder. Looks like I'm going to have to use the 401 block I was saving for the Wagoneer on this one. To top it all off I hurt the 360 in the Wagoneer Friday and probably the trans too. So now I've got to build 2 engines and 2 transmissions in addition to a ground-up Cherokee build.Yep, I know my PM box is full. Email me instead.

About time to bring this back from the dead. Not a lot of exciting work going on right now but I did get all the body mounts tacked on. It's more or less just some rectangle tubing but it worked out great. Because the stock body bolts didn't come out I used different body mount points which conveniently line up with drain holes in the floor. I'll be able to actually bolt the body down without messing with those captive nuts.
Interior is still pretty sparce but I did bolt in a steering column so I can figure out the steering linkage.
I threw the new grille and a set of front fenders on just for the heck of it.
I picked up these fiberglass fenders from Zack @ J&M Jeeps the other weekend.
Here's some pics from test fitting a spare 401. I really like the way it fits so far. The next step is to see how it fits with a transmission connected and then make some mounts.
Speaking of engines, I snapped some pics of the Indy intake. It's got a LOT of work into it since these pictures but no pictures of that.
And lastly, some pics of the sweet valve covers I picked up from ebay after I refinished them.

As far as the AMC power, you don't even need to worry about that!

The allure of the Indy (to me) is for multi-port fuel injection. For MPI you've got to have a single plane so it's either the Indy or the Torker. Or buy the Edelbrock kit for big $$. I've played with the Edelbrock kit before and it's an AWESOME setup (very impressed with it) but I wanted to try a Megasquirt ECU this time because of how customizable it is. I've got some 80 lb/hr injectors, an 80mm throttle body & elbow, fuel rails, etc on the way to finish it up.Yep, I know my PM box is full. Email me instead.
