    J10 6bt 5.9 cummins conversion

So here it is...I picked up this 1978 jeep j10 frame with dana 44's and a 360 for free and towed it from New Hampshire to Conneticut with my daily driver 81 j10 with the 258 straight 6! I'm still shocked how good that little motor does but I still need more power. Got the frame home and stripped off all the parts and sold them for 500. Got a pair of 1982 J20 axles and heavy duty springs and started building.

Sorry about the pics not in order I'm still learning. Anyways heres the donor motor a 1990 non intercooled cummins 5.9 with a nv4500 transmission.

This is the frame all painted up and the motor mocked up in place I am using the stock motor mounts relocated with crossmember to join the 2 motor mounts. (More on that this weekend)

That should tow a little better than the 258.

For anyone attempting a swap like this I got to warn you I've been researching this for months and it is gonna cost me around 6000 in parts alone. I'm already at the 3k point with the motor and trans. I am doing this on a budget but trying to not cut corners as this is my daily driver...the only other rig I got has 40 ground hawgs on it and a v8 that gets 5mpg After shopping for diesels in my price range I gave up and am building my own. Hopefully things go smooth and I will keep you all updated.

I'm very interested to know how you intend to mount the engine within the frame rails. It's the same thing I plan to do with one my trucks.

                        I'll be watching.....
