    AMC 428 Stroker

Not exactly a full size Jeep engine I guess but it sure sounds cool.
Click on it to hear it idle.

We didn't get to dyno it due to the country shutting down.
We built another engine with the same specs as this one with a slightly smaller cam and it dyno'd at 643HP and 592#/ft of torque.

Yea and it only took 64 years to get to this point.. LOL!
I worked on this cool sh..t today. Replacing the rear end with the correct AMC20. Yea it is the real McCoy, one of two cars that set a whole bunch of records in 1968.

NICE! Are those brackets for some sort of quick jack set up for changing tires?

I think that they were for wheelie bars. After it set 24 hr speed records, it was modified to do a land speed record, then it was modified for drag racing. I am trying to get it back to the original version somewhat.

Im guessing that all the extra displacement is via Stroke? The 401 bore puts it close to the limit already...

Yep, the bore was 4.208" and the stroke is 3.85". We have the crank off-set ground to 2" journals. We used Compstar 6" rods and Race-Tech pistons made to my specification to get the compression ratio around 13:1 to take advantage of E85 fuel.

how did you get ahold of this car Rick? I read about it just recently and now you post pics of it in your garage... that’s awesome.

It doesn't belong to me. I am just working on it for bragging rights. LOL! Believe it or not, both cars are within 40 miles of each other right now. I am working on the #1 car which has the 390, and the owner of the #2 car which is a 290, is a friend of mine. I went to look at the #2 car last week end. Living the dream!

Lucky you, snap a pic of the exhaust if you will and let us know what type of exhaust it has. It sounds great.
