electrolysis for rust removal - color for parts

    Hey All,

I have an electrolysis bin ready for parts.

I am going to start with the air cleaner lid and engine compartment light.

My questions. What color is the original air cleaner painted? What is the original color of the engine compartment light?

    Thanks!

Air Cleaner was satin to flat black, Gloss looks better. Engine light was silver.

Thanks PBG for the info. I'm going to take a look at photos and see what goes better regarding satin and gloss. I've heard that gloss can't take the heat unless powder coated which is not an option. Will post pics when finished.

Not knowing what engine you are working on, the black suggestions are correct depending on yr for the later AMC engines. If you have a Kaiser era engine then, for example the 327 used a red air breather housing. It is always best to state yr and model when asking for assistance...the correct answer can vary considerably.

          Hey Dan

87 GW original 360. I've decided to go with the gloss black. Real makes the engine pop and look like some skill was brought to the project.
