    Door Lock Grommet Question

So I ordered a set of lock knob grommets from TGW and trotted out to install them. I tried using a socket and small hammer to drive them down into position but no luck. I'm guessing that I'm going to have to pull the upholstery etc off the door, remove the wood grained piece that borders the glass then push the grommet down into place and bend the tabs out to hold the grommet in the correct position. Can anyone confirm this?

do not attempt removing upper woodgrain on doors, it won't end well.
if they don't fit i would try bending the tabs first.
should only require hand pressure to install.
can't say I have ever seen a later model gw with grommets there.

As they are I can slip them into the hole but they don't set down flush as I think they should. They are probably 1/8" above the top of the door. I wasn't thinking of removing the woodgrain material from the door just trying to access the grommet tabs from below to hopefully bend the tabs enough to hold the grommets down in place.

yes, you have to remove the door panel and push the tabs back from inside the door. Even then its hard to get them nice and tight.

Thanks RamJet that's the info I needed. I'm assuming that the RamJet name refers to a SBC in your Jeep?
