Bought this cut off tool from Harbor freight, kind of under powered but did work out ok for cutting the bottom of the firewall out and some clean up work

All welded up. will grind it all down tomorrow and recheck it to make sure I got it all.

I have the same tool. It is under powered but can sure get into spots that normal ones can't. Just take it nice and slow and don't put too much pressure on the wheel. Lol.

Finished the drivers side floor pan. My welding is not the greatest, but is better than what I pulled out.

Also fixed a little rust in the door sill close to the hinges. Just made a little patch at the sill and the lip that the weather strip goes over.

Now on to the next rust holes. Both quarters behind the rear wheels have rust. Looks like someone sandblasted them and loaded it up with Bondo. It was coming back so I guess I need some patch panels. I know I can cut all the old stuff out and fit the the new patch, but not sure if I could weld it and have it look right. Still thinking about it. May have to send it off to someone.

Trying to get the body back on the frame by Christmas so I need to get the firewall painted. Picked up a gallon of paint and clear coat from NAPA and sprayed the radiator support today. Got started at 5:30 this morning sanding it with 320. Did a little clean up and pushed the frame and body out of the shop and got started. It is a base coat clear coat and I used the J1 factory code which is Pewter Gray Metallic For 1978. I have never sprayed paint through a gun other than primer so I was kind of worried. Made a few phone calls to a friend who is not a painter, but painted his truck and he pointed me in the right direction. I'am very happy with my first piece! I almost didn't paint today because it rained an hour before I sprayed. Looked around on the net for an answer and it was 50/50 with what people thought, so I took a chance and sprayed anyway. I think it came out great for my first piece!

This is with two coats of clear. My friend said it would flow and lay flatter for an hour or so, but if it stays just like this, I'am happy with it.
