    1980 cherokee radio

Any good options on shaft type stereos? dont want to cut the dash, but looks like options are limited.

Your best bet would be to mount a modern DIN type radio in the glovebox or in a center console. This has the extra security feature of being hidden.

Shaft radios are getting hard to find new. Crutchfield has one or two. You might find one at Best Buy or Circuit City. If you want selection a DIN unit will be the only choice. A little trimming and they will fit the dash in the original place. If you want to keep the original look, you have to be satisfied with little choice.

I bought a Radio Shack Optimus AM/FM Cassette for my Commando because I didn't want to cut the dash. The knob studs are adjustable. Decent radio for the price and it fit fine. It also had a plug for a CD player input.
