I'd think it would be difficult. The C101 and C104 frame width is the same as the '75 and earlier CJ-5 and CJ-6. The Jeepsters have outboarded rear springs (accommodated by their square rear body corners) but their track width is the same as the corresponding CJ.

Plenty of owners have put Wagoneer axles under their CJs. It's the leas troublesome way to get a 44 front in a CJ. A Wagoneer 44 is only 5" wider than the C104 front 30. You'd need to outboard the front springs, and cut the body for the rears.

So your saying that a 78 chief frame would be too wide? What about the guys that have put Willys wagons and trucks on SJ frames? Chief body width, 74.8”, 71 commando 73”. Chief wheelbase 108”, commando 104”. All seems close. Maybe with some slights mods to SJ frame, the commando body would work,

      Thoughts?

The Commando axle width is 60 " and so is the FSJ Wagons. It'll work

I'm sure that's wrong. C101 front axle width is the same as an early CJ with the 27, 51" WMS to WMS. C104 is the same as the narrow 30 in a CJ, 53" WMS to WMS. Same track width and wheelbase as a corresponding CJ-6. A Wagoneer front 44 is 58" WMS to WMS. This won't go under a CJ or a Jeepster frame without outboarding the front springs. The '72-73 Commando is 104" wheelbase (earlier is 101"), and a Wagoneer is 109". Body width of my CJ-6 is 59", and a Jeepster should be nearly the same. Jeepsters are small.

However, with enough metal work, anything is possible... A Wagoneer is more the size of a JLU Wrangler Unlimited - a lot bigger than a Jeepster/Jeepster Commando.

I thought that they widened the CJs/Jeeps in the early '70s due to rollovers? My CJ5 was close to 60" WMS-WMS..

They widened the axles (without widening the frame, springs or mounts), but that came long after the Jeepster was gone. Last Jeepster Commando (bullnose) was made in 1973, and the wide-track axles started in 1982.
