Most Likely Transfer Case? 1980 WT Chero

I need a best guess as to which TC would be under a 1980 WT Cherokee, driver side drop, with manual locking hubs?

I wont get a chance to actually climb under it and see until next week, and the guy selling has NO IDEA about these rigs.

    Thanks.

80+ should be driver's drop front and a np2xx transfer case. Unless this was one of the last 79's to come off the line, and titled as an 80. I've seen stranger things from Jeep/AMC.

Or, a drivetrain swap could have taken place. Is it an auto or manual trans?

      Its an automatic.

Im guessing a 208 would have come in this Jeep from the factory?

Its definitely drivers side drop, with manual hubs...

More than likely. But again, that would be driver's side drop front axle.

With no location info in your profile let's assume it's a USA vehicle.
In 1980 the 208 was the standard tcase behind manual or auto trans. The 219 was optional behind AT's Look at your VIN. 3rd digit gives trans/tcase. D= AT with part-time (np208), or E=AT with full-time (np219) The 219 won't have a 2WD mode either.
I agree with the others an 80 should be drivers side front differential. You sure it's an 80? Second digit of the VIN is a zero right?

I will get to physically inspect the Jeep, but not until next week.

            Thanks for that info joe.
It is definitely an 80 and DRIVERS side drop! I screwed up the original post

                I own an 80

Mine is a part time 208. Should be lever shift on floor no vacum no dash or glove box switch if it has either it could be a converted QT. The flag on the floor shifter would have 2 hi 4 hi 4 low.
