    Press Bus in MASH episode

Just saw an old MASH episode and the press comes to visit in what looks like some sort of stretch SUV. Had at least three sets of doors on each side. Anybody see the episode and can ID the vehicle?

Checker aerobus? They made them in 6 and 8 door configurations. Just guessing from the description, never seen the episode.

On a side not a car dealer had one for sale about 20 years ago that I really wanted to buy, it was gone when I went to inquire about it a few days later. Several guys bought it that I know now and used to use it for road trips and weddings and stuff. Haven't seen it in a while though, but they now if it ever needs a new owner to talk to me first.

        SUV

        Checker Cab (auto) Kalamazoo, Michigan.
went out of business just a few years ago. (OK 1982 is a few years back, to me)
The have some on display at the Gilmore Museum
        http://www.gilmorecarmuseum.org/html...id=16&nav_id=3&

In the late 70's, I made the dies(tooling) that formed the frame rails for these. They were manufactured by A.O.Smith Corp. Milwaukee Wis. (also out of business, Closed in 2001) These frame rails were produced by a team of 4 press operators on a Hamilton 1500 ton press (#55014).....Department 1722.

Sorry, some things just trigger old memories....

But non of the above would have been seen in MASH. Or, at least SHOULDN'T have been on MASH given the time period they where portraying.

These are all similar. The IH looks most like it I think. Just an impression from a quick glimpse though. The Checker headlights/hood don't look right to me.

All really cool versions though. Wonder if I could build a stretch waggy with lots of doors? Based on my list of projects I might get to it in about 30-40 years!
