    NP241 x-case

I'm considering using the 4l80e trans and np241 T-case from a '94 1ton chev Behind a mild 454 in my 82 J10. It's part time, aluminum case and is chain driven. Low range is 2.72:1
If anyone has info, I'd like to hear pros and cons as to this case, I'm mainly concerned with durability and adaptability to my application..

That should do the trick for you. It a strong tcase and will take some serious power. I think MEPCO makes a 4:1 low range kit for it too. GM had two versions one for the IFS and the other for the solid axle. The other thing to check is the speedo connection, there are two one is a mechanical and the other is electronic. The only improvement I can think of is the NGV261, it's a super HD version of the NP 241 and has a magnesium case instead of aluminum.

Finally a topic I can sink my teeth into! 241 is a decent case.. except one thing. Get a slip yoke Eliminator kit for it. Slip yokes on 4x4's SUCK period. It's almost as embarassing as dropping a coil spring on the trail.

241's are basically slip yoked versions of 208's if you think about it.
Hrm... my old sig is broken.. new to follow soon.

the 241 was driver's side output for IFS, so I passed, I did however pick up the rebuilt 4L80e
today to go behind my 454
