64 Wagoneer engine swap

I am working on my first FSJ project, a 1964 Wagoneer. My problem is the engine (230 tornado) is shot. I want to swap the motor and have acces to a 1990 cummins diesel. Does anyone know if this is possible. I mean does the cummings have to much torque? If I cannot use the cumming I plan on using a small block chevy.

The 6BT will physicaly fit, but you would need to upgrade your ENTIRE drivetrain and possibly beef up the frame. The Chevy would be far less taxing on the vehicle, but a 6BT would be cool as hell

I was wanting to replace motor with the 5.9L Cummings and did intend to replace the tranny and transfer case as well. this of course means new drive shafts too. what I am not sure if the axles will handle that much engine though. I also am not quite sure what I would need to do to beef up the farme, I am going to have to look into the as well. Any input would be great if anyone can help.

You would need to upgrade axles as well. The front is a Dana 27, the rear is a dana 44 with 2 piece shafts. I don't know if they would even hold up to a 350 if you go with over-sized tires.
