    Tcase Shifter Question

With the engine swap that I'm doing, I need a tcase shifter for a passenger side drop tcase. Single lever, not dual. Anyone know what fits where the little cover is in this pic?

stock obviously it's the d20 shifter. Since I believe you're using a NP case? possibly a np208 shifter could be adapted/modified to fit?

Don't know yet. The D20 is the only shifter that went there?

Yup. The D20 or21 were the only part time tcases ever used in the pass side drop Pre 1980 FSJ's. The 73-79 full time QTs had a different hole location for the H/L lever. IMO you got the cart before the horse. Figure out what tcase you're using, bolt it up and see where the linkage ends up and the shifter needs to come through the floor. If mods needed, much easier and cleaner to just make a new hole than to modify or custom build new linkage and shifter.

I guess I should have made myself more clear. I installed a NP241D (pass drop) tcase a couple of months ago, now I need to find a shifter solution. The lever does align with that plate but if the D20/D21 shifters mount to the tcase, then that won't help either. Maybe I'll make an attempt to cable shift it from the QT lever instead.

That's not what I'm after but that's a nice looking shifter. If I can't get this figured out, I'll consider that one. Thanks for the link!

my 1980 J10 pickup had the 6cyl, 5speed and 208 transfer case. it had the case shifter in that location. Only the automatics had the shifter on driver side of tunnel. You could look for that setup.

I have one of these from a chevy truck that I was thinking about using:

But after thinking about it and looking at my floor I don't want to cut a hole in it so I'm going with the cable shifter from the link above. I think its the cleanest way to do it.

Out of curiosity...what kind of VSS output does the dodge 241 have?

It's a standard cable connection. Speedo cable plugs right in.
