The free 86 with no title

Got this one for free. Have a bill of sale but no title. It has been sitting for about 10 years. Was a bit crusty. Cleaned it up some. Need to figure out what to do about the title.

Idunno about where you is but in CA you can have the seller fill out a "Statement of Fact" form from the DMV saying he lost the Title. That and the Bill of Sale would let you get a new Title.

A shady way to do it if you're sure it was his with a clean Title and he just lost it would be to go to the DMV and do the paperwork for a lost Title in your name.

That looks like a completely different truck! Crusty is right!

Hopefully the interior isn't quite as crusty....

Since my 85 is waiting on parts and I wanted to tinker on something, I pulled the fuel line off of the 86, and put a new line on it that fed from a 5gallon gas can with fresh fuel. Checked the oil and made sure it had some. The thing fired right up and idled. Been sitting 10 years. Made sure the trans went into reverse and drive.

Plans on picking up oil and filter and purging the gas tank. Hoping I can get it where I can drive it to the shop and start looking at it a little closer to see what all is wrong with it.

As for the title I got a state police to come out and do a vin verification and sent my paperwork off for a bonded title.

Seafoam, a fresh fuel filter, replaced some vacuum lines and changed the oil and filter. Fired it up, idles but def needs a carb kit.

Plugs, carb kit, fresh fuel and lines, new battery, new ignition switch, and cleaned the inside. Still smells like grandma's house.
Got blower motor and most of the lights working. Only have one window that works so far.

The better news is I have a tag, registration and a bonded title. She's legal to drive. Drove it to town and got some wipers and gas. Truck is scary on the highway, has some old farm truck wander to it and I have a brake making noise up front.
