The 12 valve will make 450 with little effort and still be efficient. The 4bt will be burning more fuel than I can supply to get those numbers.

It will be a fun project for sure!

It's been a while since I posted updates. The truck is rusting again. Paint is fading really bad. 4bt died last summer. Wrapping up the 12 valve swap. It runs like an animal. Should have done this swap the first time around.

I'll post up a video soon.

I think there are a handful of 4BT making that much power. And engine life at those power ranges is measured in hours, with absolutely no driveability.

Other than weight or size, it makes no sense doing that vs going with a 6BT, with can make that kind of power with relatively ease.

I am sold on the 12 valves. This thing runs like an animal.

Just a quick video of the M715 after the 12 valve Cummins swap. The camera mount is a bit too shaky, but you get the picture. It runs good.

                      Neat!

So what did you end up doing with the 4bt? Would be interested if it's in rebuildable condition.

Man that thing is loud! Between the motor and the tires it probably sounds like a 747 coming down the freeway...totally awesome I hope I have one someday

Thanks for the compliments. The 4BT is gone, I sold it to someone in Harrisburg area. It was a good little engine while it lasted, but the 12 valve runs it's tail off. No more planning ahead for little elevation changes, just put it in 5th gear and put the hammer down.
