    '80 J-10 Body ID Plate Decoder Wanted

    Hello all,

    Found Plenty of VIN decoders, but not Body Plate Decoders evidently......

    Here's what the drivers side firewall tag reads:


    J204890

    27 05 OHOJ 3AW


    Can someone Please steer me in the right direction?????

    I have no explicit info about the builders plate ... but since you emailed me...

    Suspect there is no more info on this plate that is not on the VIN plate. If you look at the TSM, the VIN plate has the VIN, the trim and paint codes, and possibly some numbers that are only meaningful to the factory.

    "27 05" no idea.

    "OHOJ" is two two-letter paint codes, Navy Blue and Teal Blue, resp.

    "3AW" is a trim code: WFS (with full seat), "Blue Perforated Soft-Feel Vinyl."

    Suspect that J204890 should match the sequential part of the VIN, at least in part.

    I would look for the sequential number that should be stamped in the top of the frame, near the right front shock mount. It can be hard to find.

        The factory parts book for my '85 has a page that breaks down the contents of the tag. Maybe the one for yours does as well.
