Hey folks.
I bought a beat up 1970 j 4000 to turn into a swamp buggy.
it has a amc 232 a t-15. dana 60 rear and dana 44 front..
when i bought the truck the old owner had a problem buying a starter and had a starter clamped to the bellhousing. In this case my starter is on the top drivers side. there was also some damage to the bellhousing where the starter bolts.
I found the correct starter and bolts. when i bolted the starter up it turned the motor over but made a bad grinding sound.
I have now taken bellhousing and flywheel off. the plate between the block and bellhousing has some wear marks from the flywheel scraping it. This could be due to main bearings being worn out and the crank shifting.
however the plate is a little out of wack and may just need some hammering on.
I am trying to find a bellhousing for this motor and tranny combo.
the number on my bell housing is 3191360...
if anyone knows of places for me to look or kow of anyone that has one please let me know. Thanks
